Phone and Fax Numbers

In general, you should ensure that telephone & fax numbers conform to one of the following format:
  • +country code (area code) number
  • +(country code area code) number

You can use parentheses, spaces, hyphens or dots to separate numbers e.g.
  • +country code (area code) number
  • +country code-area code-number
  • +country code.area code.number
  • + (country code area code) number

In general, the area code should not be 0 and should not start with a 0. However there are some countries that follow a different format (some examples are shown below)

For France, the following examples are correct:
  • +33 (1) 94 24 99 99
  • +33 (1) 94-24-99-99
  • +33 (1) 94.24.99.99
  • +33(1)94249999
  • +(33 1) 94 24 99 99

For the USA & CANADA, the following examples are correct:
  • +1 800 852 9001
  • +1-800-852-9001
  • +(1 800) 852.9001
  • +18008529001

For Italy, the following examples are correct:
  • +39.02.26830102
  • +39 02 26 83 01 02
  • +(39 2) 26 83 01 02

The following examples are not valid and will be rejected by the Contact Management System:
  • 33 (1) 94.24.99.99 no plus (+) sign
  • +33 (0)1 94.24.99.99 area code should not be 0
  • +33 (01) 94.24.99.99 area code should not start with 0
  • +33 (1) 94/24/99/99 the ‘/’ sign is not a valid separator for numbers
